Rudy and Billy

Rudy is red wine in a beer bottle, Billy is white wine in a beer bottle. Client follows the trend of searching of the alternatives for the beer among young target audience (18-26). Target audience is young people 18-30, trend setters, early adopters (hipsters/surfers), who don’t prefer beer but wine is too complicated product for them - too many kinds, maybe they don’t like it’s image – it’s too indiferent, too adult.

The aim was to create a brand that will generate buzz and word of mouth in real life and in social networks. RB mark is ambigram which is chosen because it’s engaging, inviting users to turn it upside down. It’s something that target group will find cool, attractive and will proudly share with their friends.

Rudy and Billy is custom made type. While keeping it simple and legible, letters udy and ly are connected in unusual way to draw more attention, make it look cool and produce word of mouth marketing.

Chosen angle for type is 45 degrees because wine is best stored upside down between 45 degrees and 0 degrees (horizontally). The shelf has 45 degrees holes in it so that the bottles can be stored the way it is shown in example. That way the logo on the back is aligned as it is on the front. It grabs attention because of unusual display and connects with wine lovers.
