Just Peace
Just Peace is a new annual celebration of peace and justice in The Hague. The creation of the Peace Palace, over 100 years ago in the city, laid a solid foundation for The Hague as the international city of peace and justice. The festival occurs around the UN’s International Day of Peace on the 21st September. Throughout the weekend over 25,000 people enjoyed music, debates, exhibitions, running events, guided tours, walks, theater and more.

Everything in the festival focussed on one goal, peace. Consequently, we created the name Just Peace to highlight this emphasis while also linking to the just nature of the cause.

Disputes are created from differences and these are often differences between nations. A nation’s identity marker is it flag. Taking these as the starting point we disassembled flags, separating them into their different elements. Doing this shows that we all share the same qualities - the same colours, the same shapes. A level playing field is created and peace can be achieved. The festival is a celebration so this feeling is then given to the flag elements.
