Hoopoe

The birds expressed a wish to search for their own king. Hoopoe told them that Simorgh was the king of birds, but he lived beyond Ghaf Mountain, almost impossible to reach. Osprey claimed that he ate bones and crowned kings. So, he was ranked above Simorgh! Partridge explained that he only collected gems and Simorgh was not a gem. Owl called Simorgh a fable far from reality. Sparrow cried that he was too weak to accompany the other birds. Nightingale confessed that he was in love with flowers and could not place Simorgh in his heart. Parrot said he wished to look for Fountain of Youth instead of Simorgh. Peacock admitted that he longed to return to Paradise and Simorgh was not a suitable substitute for Heaven. Duck reasoned that he could not leave the water to search for Simorgh. Vulture considered himself more sinful to be allowed to reach Simorgh. Hoopoe told the birds that all their earthly cravings were in vain. He urged them to take their lives on their wings to reach Simorgh.
